Defending champions Demerara will put their title on the line on Friday when they face the National Under-17 team in the final of the Guyana Cricket Board/Hand in Hand Mutual Fire Insurance Company Limited Under-19 Inter-County 50-over tournament at the National Stadium.

While Demerara trounced Essequibo by 208 runs, Berbice got the better of the Under-17s in the third and final preliminary round on Thursday.

At the Everest Cricket Club ground on Thursday, Berbice defeated the Under-17 side by 70 runs, but the Under-17s advanced to the final by virtue of accumulating more fast bowling points than their opponent. They amassed 10.7 points, while Berbice had 10.2.

Scores in the match: Berbice 155-9 (Junior Sinclair 50, Sylus Tyndall 25, Adrian Sukwah 20, Ashmead Nedd 4-19) versus National Under-17s 85 all out (Alex Algoo 21, Keon Sinclair 3-18, Karan Arjpaul 3-9, Kevin Sinclair 2-12).

At Providence, Demerara defeated Essequibo by 208 runs. Demerara 300 all out (Raymond Perez 125, Ramnarine Chatura 73, Joshua Jones 4-65, Joel Fortune 3-47) versus Essequibo 92 all out (Kurt Lovell 27, Chanderpaul Mohabir 18*, Keshram Seybadon 5-21, Ronaldo Ali-Mohamed 2-16, Richie Loaknauth 2-18).

At the conclusion of the three rounds of matches, Demerara finished with the most points (23.1), followed by the Under-17s (10.7), Berbice (10.2) and Essequibo (2.6). Friday’s final will get underway at 09:00h.
