Police are making stringent efforts to apprehend four male suspects, one of whom is suspected to have received gunshot injuries, during a robbery committed on a 47-year-old Technician at an Entertainment Bar in Uitvlugt, West Coast Demerara.
It was disclosed that the 47-year-old man was stabbed to his left hand and thigh with a broken bottle and relieved of his cellular phone, an undisclosed amount of cash and his licensed firearm about 01:00hrs this morning (Wednesday, June 07, 2017).
Police investigations revealed that the victim was in the company of a friend outside of the bar imbibing when the suspects who went into the bar and returned with a beer each, suddenly pounced and demanded cash.
The suspects struck him (victim) with a bottle which broke.
They then used the pieces to stab the victim who whipped out his firearm and discharged several rounds at the bandits. However, the suspects managed to disarm and relieve him of his weapon and valuables and escaped.
The victim was treated at the West Demerara Regional Hospital for his injuries and sent away.
