The police in ‘A’ Division yesterday afternoon (Thursday, June 08, 2017) busted two employees of the Ministry of Public infrastructure with approximately 255 grams of cocaine.

The News Room has been informed that an Engineer and a Civil Contractor attached to the Ministry were stopped and searched in the vicinity of Golden Grove Public Road, East Bank Demerara (E.B.D) at about 4 pm on Thursday.

The substance was found in the glove compartment of the vehicle in which the men, 20-year-old Aviskhar Rambarran and 20-year-old Michael Sikhim, were travelling.

According to information received, the police were told that the sliver grey vehicle was transporting narcotics and the car was intercepted.

It was at the time being driven by Rambarran of 93 Enmore North, E.C.D.

Rambarran admitted that the substance was given to him by someone who goes by the name of “John”. He told investigators that he was to sell the drugs and return the cash after which he would be given a percentage of it. He also told detectives that he does not know “John” personally or where he lives.

    The men remain in custody.
