The police in ‘A’ Division this evening (Friday, June 09, 2017) arrested two males after they led patrol ranks on a hot pursuit through several city streets.

The chase which proceeded along Durban Street, Lodge, Georgetown, and ended on Victor Street, saw the ranks cordoning off the area and carrying out a search on a yellow Toyota Raum HB 9857.

When the News Room arrived at the location this evening, the police had already conducted their initial investigation and left the scene.

We were however told by several eyewitnesses that after the vehicle had stopped, its two occupants attempted to escape. The men were subsequently caught by ranks and taken to the Police Station.

Eyewitnesses indicated that two shots were fired, but one senior police sources from ‘A’ Division denied that any shots were fired during the encounter.

The police earlier in the evening (Friday, June 09, 2017), received information that the occupants of the vehicle were in possession of arms and ammunition. However, a search of the vehicle came up empty handed. The ranks are trying to determine if the men were able to hide or discard any weapon during their bid to escape.
