Two hospitalised after car failed to stop at intersection
A police Constable and a pillion rider were on Friday evening hospitalised after the motorcycle on which they were travelling collided with a hire car at Main and Philadelphia Street, New Amsterdam, Berbice.
Information received suggests that HC 6430 driven by 31-year-old Ramdat Tahal which proceeding west on Philadelphia Street failed to stop on the approach of Main St and in so doing, collided with motorcycle # CJ 1329.
The motorcycle was being driven by 18-year-old Constable Tofan Reid, and carrying pillion 26-year-old Jerry Hawker.
As a result of the collision, both motorcyclist and pillion fell on the road surface. They were picked up and taken to NA Hospital where they were seen by a doctor and admitted.
Both conditions regarded as stable while the driver of hire car in custody at Reliance Police Station
