Acting on information received, ranks of the Guyana Police Force (GPF) this morning (Monday, June 12, 2017) discovered over 12,000 grams of cannabis in a car at Aurora.
News Room was told that motorcar HC 347 was stopped by officers on Aurora public road at about 08:10 on Monday morning.
At the time, there were five persons in the car; Driver, 28-year-old Kevin Fernandez of Adventure, Essequibo; 59-year-old John John of Moruca; 48-year-old Ronald Douglas of Wismar, Linden; 42-year-old Marvin Pilllay of Port Kaituma and 45-year-old Lorna France of Lower Pomeroon River.
A search was conducted on the vehicle and a cardboard box containing 25 parcels of leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis were found.
The content was weighed, and it amounted to be 12,209 grams.
Police sources said Pillay admitted that the item belongs to him. However, investigations are ongoing.
