Woman stabbed to death in Berbice; Another critical after stabbing in Pomeroon River

Police are hunting an East Canje, Berbice man after he brutally murdered his wife earlier today (Wednesday, June 21, 2017), and attempted suicide, while another is in police custody for stabbing his wife several times at Pomeroon, Essequibo.

A woman whose name is called “Minty” at Sheet Anchor Village, East Canje, Berbice was on Wednesday morning chopped to death at her home by her husband known as “Goalie”.

News Room was told that the suspect chopped his wife following an argument then attempted to take his life by plunging into the Canje River.

The victim was rushed to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The News Room was told that the suspect and was in Suriname for some time and had recently returned.

It is alleged that he had threatened to take his own life after accusing his wife of having an affair while he was out of the country.

Footage of the crime scene is being circulated on Facebook, while the Police in ‘B’ Division are presently combing the river to apprehend the suspect or recover his body.

Meanwhile, a woman is currently a patient at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) after she was severely chopped by her reputed husband on Monday (June 19, 2017).

News Room was told that the woman, Trisha Griffith was stabbed multiple times by 28-year-old Randolph George following an argument during which George accused her of being unfaithful.

It is alleged that both persons were imbibing alcohol at the time of the incident.

Griffith was rushed to the Suddie Hospital and was transported to the GPHC after her condition worsened on Tuesday (June 20, 2017).

George was taken into custody.

Investigations are ongoing.
