Fruta Conquerors’ initiative to help develop young talents through the hosting of two upcoming tournaments has received corporate support from one of its faithful partners.

The Medicine Chest of Middle Street on Friday morning once again threw its financial backing behind the Tucville-based club, providing an undisclosed amount. Arron Fraser of the company was on hand to present the cheque to Fruta Conquerors Secretary, Daniel Thomas. The club will stage Under-13 and Under-16 tournaments that will be held simultaneously with its 10th annual junior football camp.

Thomas expressed gratitude to Fraser and his team at Medicine Chest, noting that the company has been very supportive to the club over the years. He pointed out that Medicine Chest last year sponsored the club’s Under-17 team that is currently competing in the NAMILCO Under-17 Flour Power tournament.

Fraser said his company is once again delighted to strengthen its partnership with the club, which is celebrating its 35th anniversary this year.

“It is always nice to be associated with success, but not only success; I think Fruta Conquerors have demonstrated over the years that they have a very strong structure and that structure has enabled them to produce outstanding junior and senior players,” Fraser remarked.

He also made reference to the club producing the captain of the Guyana Under-15 team, Joshua Brathwaite, who led the country in an unbeaten run in St. Martin a few weeks ago to win the SOULIGA tournament.

“It’s just a manifestation of the all-round work that the club put in place, and not only are the players doing well on the field, but they are showing national leadership potential. So kudos to the executives that are in place at Fruta Conquerors and the Medicine Chest is proud to once again be associated with their ventures,” Fraser explained.

The youth tournaments, set to start in two weeks, will see participation from Beacon, Santos, Buxton, Fruta Conquerors, Georgetown Football Club, Western Tigers, Renaissance and Camptown.
