Intoxicated man’s head crushed
A 49-year-old man was on Saturday afternoon (June 24, 2017) killed after his head was rolled over by a car at Herstelling on the East Bank of Demerara (E.B.D.)
News Room received information which states that Kalicharran Goordial was “highly under the influence of alcohol” and was lying in the centre of a cross street which adjoins 2nd Street Herstelling on the East Bank of Demerara. His head was said to be five ft from the edge of the road.
An eyewitness stated that at about 15:00hrs, a motorcar, PVV4911 was proceeding East along the centre of 2nd Street and suddenly turned North and the left front of his vehicle drove over the head of the deceased.
It is alleged that on observing the deceased, the driver reversed and drove away from the scene.
Police were able to track the car and arrested the driver, 24-year-old Ryan Seecharran, also of Herstelling.
A breathalyser test was done, and no alcohol was found on his breath.
The vehicle was examined, and blood was found under the front left side, in the vicinity of the wheel.
The Driver remains in custody while the vehicle was lodged as investigations continue.
