Teacher found in house with dead husband, commits suicide

A 27-year-old teacher who was found in an unconscious state in her Cummings Lodge apartment with the decomposing body of her husband earlier this month, died in Essequibo after committing suicide.

According to information reaching the News Room, Cindy Dawson’s decision to end her life came as a direct result of her losing her spouse, something she only became aware of after she awoke from a state of unconsciousness in a hospital bed.

Police in Essequibo are contending that the woman might have ended her life sometime between Sunday (June 25, 2017) and this morning (Monday, June 26, 2017).

The discovery was made by her brother who noted that his sister has been spending some time with him since the loss of her husband but never indicated that she was having issues.

On Monday night (June 05, 2017), the police acting on a report of a foul smell coming from the building in Cummings Lodge went to the location to investigate. Upon entering an apartment at lot 7 GEC Scheme, Cummings Lodge, the partly decomposed remains of 35-year-old Kevin Dawson was found, with his wife lying next to him in an unconscious state.

She was picked up and rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital and upon regaining consciousness, related that she came home at the weekend and found the man’s body in the house and she immediately fainted.

A post-mortem was on Wednesday, (June 07, 2017) conducted on the man’s body which found that he died as a result of Typhoid and Malaria.

Cindy Dawson was a teacher at a nursery school while the 35-year-old man was a miner.
