Former Finance Minister, Dr. Ashni Singh is ready and willing to cooperate with the Special Organized Crime Unit (SOCU).

This is according to Former Minister of Legal Affairs and Attorney-at-law, Anil Nandlall who submitted a letter to SOCU today (Thursday, June 29, 2017) stating that he is the legal representative for Dr. Singh.

Reports in the Press recently stated that serious efforts are being made by SOCU to question Former head of the National Industrial and Commercial Investments Limited (NICIL), Winston Brassington and the former Finance Minister in connection with the findings of a forensic audit into the management of NICIL and several files pertaining to this.

Former Auditor General Anand Goolsarran handed over his report to the government about 18 months ago.

According to Nandlall’s letter to SOCU, although Dr. Singh is out of the jurisdiction, “he always was and remains accessible, ready, able and willing to provide all, or any information at his disposal which your unit may require.”

He requested that the unit contacts him for any information needed.
