(Barbados Nation News) Three men charged in connection with the seizure of cocaine and marijuana off the shores of Barbados are scheduled to appear in court this week.

They are Michael Emanuel Yarde, 42 years, of Drax Hall Jump, St George; David Ian Brathwaite, 64, of 3rd Ave, Parris Gap, St Michael and 37-year-old Guyanese national Abdool Sameer Manan.

Brathwaite and Yarde have been jointly charged with unlawful possession, possession with intent to supply, trafficking, importation and conspiracy to traffic both cocaine and marijuana. Manan has been charged with trafficking and conspiracy to traffic cocaine and marijuana.

According to police, a joint team from the Drug Squad, Police Marine Unit, Barbados Coast Guard and Regional Security System Air Wing intercepted a Barbadian vessel offshore last Thursday (June 29, 2017). A total of 50.5 kilos of cocaine, with a street value of $2 525 000 and 160 pounds of cannabis with a street value of $640 000, were seized from the boat.
