Three other escapees identified

The Guyana Police Force has released Wanted Bulletins for three additional prison escapees. The force had released Wanted Bulletins for three others earlier in the week.

Wanted Bulletins were today (Wednesday, July 12, 2017) released for Desmond James, Cornelius Thomas and Cobena Stephens.

The men are wanted by the police for questioning in relation to Murder and Escaping from Lawful Custody during the Georgetown Prison riot.

24-year-old James’ last known address is Hotoquai Creek, North West District.

Thomas, 31 years old is from Lot 36, Guyhoc Gardens, Georgetown.

Stephens aka OJ’s last known address is Lot 82, Gope Street, Middle Walk, Buxton, East Coast Demerara.

Wanted Bulletins are already out for alleged mastermind, Royden Williams aka “Smallie” who was on death row for the Bartica Massacre, Stafrei Hopkenson Alexander of Laing Avenue, Georgetown and Uree Varswyke aka Malcolm Gordon.

Durant is said to be of Friendship Buxton, ECD & Lot 74 Dennis Street, Sophia.

The President on Tuesday disclosed that a total of eight prisoners are missing.

This would mean that two remains unidentified, given that four wanted bulletins were issued.

Anyone with information that may lead to the arrest of the men, is asked to contact the police on telephone numbers 229-2289, 229-2655, 274-0409, 225-6411, 225-8196, 225-2227, 227-1149, 226-7065, 911 or the nearest police station.

Authorities have so far disclosed that a total of 1,010 prisoners from the Georgetown Prisons are accounted for.

Information supplied on Tuesday states that of the 1,018 registered inmates, 980 inmates were at the prison at the time of the fire/breakout. The other 38 inmates were out of the prison on labour duties (which is a common feature of prison life for low-risk prisoners), and they have been accounted for.
