The Police in Berbice are pursuing a man who was identified as prison escape Stafrei Hopkenson Alexander.
The police in their wanted bulletin last week identified the man as one who is suspected to be hiding in the East Coast Demerara backlands but today, police received information to the contrary.
At the moment, joint services are said to be closing in on the man who was spotted in the Port Mourant area.
Sources in Berbice have confirmed that the police have been on an operation in the Port Mourant backlands since early this morning but up to press time, there has been no sighting of the fugitive.
