Teshawn McKenzie is one of the five who have been recaptured
The police moments ago captured five of the escapees who fled the Lusignan swamp area early this morning.
According to information reaching the News Room, the Assistant Commissioner of Operations Clifton Hicken received information on some of the men’s movements and they were intercepted trying to board public transportation in downtown Georgetown in the vicinity of the Stabroek Market area.
Among those who were recaptured are Teshawn McKenzie and Winston Long.
Others were reportedly captured along the East Coast Demerara. The police quickly mobilised and tactically intercepted the men. They are at this moment being escorted down to the Brickdam Police Station.
The development brings to the fore the reality that many of the escapees might be dwelling among the general population who are unaware of their identities due to the poor quality images which were released to the public. (Leroy Smith)
