CENTROBASKET U-17: Puerto Rico rout Guyana 115-48

Guyana Under-17s lost their second consecutive game in the 2017 CentroBasket U-17 tournament that continued on Thursday in the Dominica Republic. Playing against powerhouse Puerto Rico, Guyana just did not have any firepower against the Spanish speaking nation, losing terribly 115-48.

Guyana also lost heavily in the opening game, going down to the Bahamas 114-63.

While Guyana was down only by 10 points after the first quarter against Puerto RicT, the South American nation entered a shooting slump, one that they never recovered from as the lead continually ballooned throughout the game.

Guyana’s leading scorer was once again Kevon Wiggins, who had 15 points, while Akeem Crandon chipped in with a double-double of 10 points and 11 rebounds.

Gianfranco Grafal was the high point man for Puerto Rico with 23 points, while Omar Morales and Algenis Quintana chipped in with 19 and 17 points respectively in the comfortable win.

Guyana will next play Mexico on Friday (July 28).
