Banks DIH Limited and the Guyana Rugby Football Union (GRFU) have once again joined forces to help the rugby national 15’s set-up in their quest to lift the Rugby America’s North (RAN) 15’s title on Saturday in Guyana.

‘Green Machine’, as they are more commonly called, will have an opportunity to repeat their success of 2014 when they face USA South Panthers, whom they defeated back then. The game, set to start at 14:00h, has been shifted to the track and field ground at the National Park.

At the press conference on Thursday, President of the GRFU, Peter Green, highlighted that the game could make Guyana the number one team in the region.

“It is important for the guys to know the seriousness of the game as we can be number in the region which will allow us to take over from Mexico, but it is through Banks DIH that this game is made possible and we thank them for joining with us again,” Green noted.

Communication Manager of Banks DIH Limited, Troy Peters, noted that the beverage giant is in full support of the team and urged all fans to come out and support the national side.

“We know we are in for a great game of rugby especially after watching Guyana lift their standard against Trinidad, but we must not take this USA South team lightly but we at Banks fully support the rugby team and believe that they can win,” Peters mentioned.

Meanwhile, captain of the ‘Green Machine’, Ryan Gonsalves, noted that the team is ready to the face the challenge ahead.

“It’s going be tough especially with what the weather has done to us, but we have been working on our technical aspect of the game with certain scrimmages at the line because we know USA are bigger than us; 50% of the team from 2014 will be returning and the guys are confident that they will play well and we will show up on Saturday to play,” Gonsalves stressed.
