Prison escapee Stafrei Alexander was captured by police in Berbice.
This was confirmed by moments ago by Commander of B Division Paul Williams.
Alexander was among the 6 inmates who escaped from the Camp Street Prison during the unrest on July 9.
He was reportedly wounded during a police operation which commenced a few days ago in Port Mourant, Berbice.
Reports are that police apprehended a young man who reportedly took food to the escapee. He later led the police to an area in the Backlands where Alexander was supposedly hiding out.
