Prison escapee Clive Forde aka as El Sinkie has been fatally shot by police somewhere in East Ruimveldt, Georgetown.
One person has been taken into custody and police are said to be moving in on another suspected fugitive.
Acting Police Commissioner David Ramnarine said, acting on information provided by the public, the Joint Services executed an operation which resulted in an exchange of gunfire with El Sinkie. The Joint Services received information that Forde was hiding out in a house in the area and surrounded the house.
A 9mm pistol with live rounds was found a short distance away from where his body fell.
