Police seeking help to identify Herstelling accident victim

The Guyana Police Force (GPF) is seeking the public’s help in identifying a woman who died in a vehicular accident at Herstelling Public Road, East Bank Demerara (EBD) on Saturday night.

She is of African decent and is suspected to be in her late forties. Her body is presently at the Lyken’s Funeral Parlour awaiting identification and a postmortem.

Anyone with information that may lead to her identification is asked to contact the police on telephone numbers 225-6940, 225-2683, 265-7383, 265-3237, 265-2233, 227-2219, 226-4585, 225-2700, 911 or the nearest Police Station.

The woman was struck down by an alleged speeding motorist who is in custody and assisting with the investigation.

Police said inquiries disclosed that motorcar PKK 3251 driven by a 45 year old resident of Burnham Boulevard was proceeding south along the eastern carriageway of Herstelling at a fast rate, when the pedestrian allegedly crossed the road from west to east into the path of the vehicle and collided.

As a result, the left leg of the pedestrian was severed and she also sustained injuries to head and body
