2012 World Junior silver medallist, Kadecia Baird, and Guyana’s sprint queen, Brenessa Thompson, will both miss the 2017 World Championship, which is set to begin on Friday in London.

Both Baird and Thompson were unable to make the initial appointment for their visa to head to London, and requested a new date from the Athletics Association of Guyana (AAG) after explaining their reason for not making the appointment.

However, while the AAG was willing to get the girls a new date for the appointment, which was confirmed by a reliable source to be July 31, both girls would have had to pay US$300 for the rescheduling.

It was related to News Room Sport by a source close to the situation that both girls having already made their financial constraints public in July- which resulted in a meeting with the AAG while both athletes were in Guyana for the famed Aliann Pompey Invitational- were unable to pay the fee, which resulted in their names being scratched from attending the meet.

News Room Sport, in an attempt to contact President of the Association, Aubrey Hutson, for a comment on the situation, was reliably informed that the AAG boss is already in London attending a Congress for the event.

South American Senior gold medallist, Winston George, and triple jump king, Troy Doris, will now be the only two athletes to represent the Golden Arrowhead at 16th edition of Athletics’ second biggest stage.
