Ramnarine denies “sucking up” to become Top Cop

Assistant Commissioner of Police, David Ramnarine has denied claims that he was “fighting down” Commissioner of Police, Seelall Persaud and Crime Chief, Wendell Blanhum, so that he [Ramnaraine] could become the next Police Commissioner.

Ramnarine is currently on the stands as the Commission of Inquiry (CoI) continues into the alleged plot to assassinate President David Granger. He made the comments under cross examination by Attorney, Glenn Hanoman.

The assistant Top Cop also denied claims that he is trying to impress the “powers that be.” Ramnarine claimed that Assistant Commissioner of Police, Clifton Hicken and Seelall Persaud denied operatives of the Police Office of Professional Responsibility access to the firearm sections/files during the process of an investigation.

During his testimony last week, Ramnarine had claimed that the probe into the alleged assassination was not done properly. Attorney Hanoman today suggested that Ramnarine made such a claim because he has “personal issues” with Persaud and Blanhum.
