Corentyne man feared dead, 3 arrested

A Crabwood Creek, East Corentyne Berbice man is feared dead after he left his home on Saturday August 05, 2017 to go fishing with friends out in the Corentyne River.

The missing father of two has been identified as 52-year-old Karamchand Parbudyal of Grant 1651 Crabwood Creek.

News Room understands that Parbudyal was at home on Saturday when three men visited and asked that he accompany them at sea to do fishing. It was after the men returned later that evening that family members of the missing man was informed that he was left at a specific location on a river bank and subsequently disappeared.

Speaking with reporters at their home earlier today, the man’s daughter, Tanuja Parbudyal disclosed that she received a call from her mother at about 14:30 hrs on Saturday, informing  her that her father did not return home.

Tanuja explained that the men were at her father’s house when her mother calldd and as such she requested to speak with one of them, who recalled that they left her father standing on a sand bank while they reversed the fishing vessel after which they threw the fishing net overboard.

According to Tanuja, she was told that after setting the fishing net, the men began looking for her father but he was no where to be found.

The News Room was told that the men returned to shore and reported the incident to the police and relatives.

‘B’ Division commander Paul Williams disclosed that ranks were sent to the location in search of the missing man.

He added that the three men have been taken into custody for questioning ans nvestigations are ongoing.
