Guyana’s South American gold medallist Winston George has qualified for the semi-final of the Men’s 200 metres at the World Championships that continued on Monday in London.

George, who originally finished fifth in Heat Seven of the preliminary round with a time of 20.61s, got into the final due to two of the athletes who finished ahead of him committing lane infringements that got them disqualified. By virtue, George was elevated to third.

Troy Doris missed out on the final

The finish for George meant that he automatically qualified for the semi-final that is set for Wednesday. Meanwhile, Troy Doris will miss the Triple Jump final after failing to qualify.

With the automatic qualifying mark set at 17.00 metres, Doris jumped 16.43 metres to end his World Championships campaign early.

All attention is now on George, who will compete in the semi-final of the Men’s 200m on Wednesday at 15:55h.
