A 44-year-old Chinese businessman was found dead in his Tuschen Housing Scheme, East Bank Essequibo home on Thursday evening.
He has been identified as Jiang, who operated the Paradise Chinese Restaurant on the lower flat of his home. News Room was reliably informed that the businessman was found dead in his bathroom with his hands tied and his mouth gagged.
News Room understands that the businessman recently moved to the area from Soesdyke, East Bank Demerara; his wife resides in Soesdyke where she operates another Chinese restaurant.
According to reports, the man’s wife asked a friend to check on her husband, since he didn’t answer the phone. The friend turned up at the house and found the lights on and the door ajar. The friend called out for the businessman but got no response. The friend suspected that something was wrong and went to the police outpost.
The man’s body was discovered by the police around 22:00hrs. News Room understands that businessman was playing games with friends online around 03:00 hrs this morning when he told them to “hold on.” However, no one heard from him since.
