GDF ranks injured in Timehri accident

Lance Corporal in the Guyana Defence Force (GDF), 21-year-old Jamal McPherson of Den Amstel, West Coast Demerara, has been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of the Georgetown Public Hospital with serious head injuries, following a motorcycle accident on Sunday on the Timehri Public Road, East Bank Demerara.

News Room understands that at approximately 13:00hrs, McPherson was the pillion rider on motorcycle, CH 681, owned and driven by Lance Corporal, 20-year-old Cranston McAllister, of Gold Grove, East Coast Demerara, which crashed into a parked car [PJJ 5499] after overtaking another vehicle. Both men were based at Camp Stephenson, Timehri, at the time of the accident.

According to reports, the car is owned and driven by 64-year-old Joslyn Crawford of Pouderoyen, West Bank Demerara. News Room understands that the GDF ranks were proceeding south along the eastern side of the Timehri public road behind a car and while in the process of overtaking the said motor vehicle, the driver of the motor cycle lost control and fell onto the road surface.

McPherson collided with the right side front wheel of PJJ 5499 which had stopped on the western side of the road; he was picked up in a semi-conscious condition, placed in a police car and rushed to the Diamond Diagnostic Centre, where he was transferred to the Georgetown Hospital for further treatment.
