1 dead in Region 7 storm

A woman is now reportedly dead following a storm this afternoon in Jawalla Village in Upper Mazaruni, Region Seven.

Several buildings were completely destroyed in the storm and some persons were reportedly mildly injured.

Regional Chairman, Gordon Bradford confirmed that the incident occurred around mid-afternoon and authorities are worried that the storm will travel to other small communities.

The Civil Defence Commission and other officials have responded, according to the Department of Public Information. News Room will provide more details as it becomes available.
