Girl crushed to death after house collapses
The body of the young lady in the collapsed house
A young woman, who has been identified as Amber Richards, 12, was this afternoon crushed to death after a house she visited, collapsed with her inside. The wooden house was apparently standing some seven feet.
It is unclear under what circumstances the house fell at Lot 17 La Bonne Intention (LBI), East Coast Demerara. News Room understands that she was in a hammock when the house collapsed. Her brother, 8-year-old Joshua Richards has been hospitalised following the incident.
Relatives are in a state of shock; fire and rescue personnel eventually managed to remove her body. The girl and her brother had visited the relatives to spend time during the August holidays. They are originally from Canal Number 1, West Bank Demerara.
