Police are on the hunt for a 30-year-old mother of one, who allegedly stabbed her husband, Alfro Adams to death on Monday, August 21 at Dredge Creek, Upper Pomeroon River.

The suspect has been identified as Wavney John, a handy craft worker and the mother of the couple’s 18-month-old baby of Himacobra, Moruca North West District.

News Room understands that the couple shared a relationship for some six years and that it is a regular habit for Adams to consume alcohol and abuse John. After suffering for years at the hands of Adams, the woman decided to move out of the home with her child and relocated to her aunt’s house at Dredge Creek.

However, reports indicate that the man followed John and went to live at the said home and on Monday, John and her aunt went to Charity to sell their handy craft work. Adams followed them there and John and her aunt found him at the Charity water front, in a highly intoxicated state.  He joined the same boat with the women and went to Dredge Creek, where he continued to consume high wine rum.

It is alleged that Adams then accused his reputed wife of having an affair with her cousin and he started to abuse her. He was warned to desist from such behavior by the aunt and John, but the man ignored the warnings and instead slapped this wife.

The woman then reportedly picked up a scissors that she was using and dealt him one stab to his right-side chest; she then walked down the Dredge Creek dam and escape. The aunt and other persons in the area took the man to the Charity hospital, where he died at around 17 :00 hrs. The incident occurred at around noon.
