The Police in Berbice are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a Rose Hall Town Corentyne youth who was discovered hanging in his apartment on Tuesday August 22,2017.
He has been identified as 20-year-old Stephan Baldeo of Reef, Rose Hall Town Corentyne Berbice. According to information reaching the News Room, at about 08:00hrs yesterday, Baldeo, who lived with his grandparents, appeared to be under the influence of narcotics and was confronted by his grandparents.
During the confrontation, Baldeo reportedly armed himself with a pipe and dealt the two pensioners several lashes about their bodies. His grandfather later reported the matter to the police who visited the home, but by then the young man had already fled the scene.
News Room understands that the young man returned to the house at about noon yesterday and the police were informed. However, when the ranks visited the home, they found him hanging from the roof of the apartment.
The body was removed and escorted to the Port Mourant mortuary, where it awaits a post mortem examination.
