Woman accused of injuring ex-lover’s girlfriend
A 28-year-old woman on Wednesday appeared before Magistrate Annett Singh at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court, charged with wounding the girlfriend of her child’s father.
Rosanna Benjamin, mother of two, denied that on August 17, 2017 at Kuru-Kuru, Linden Highway, she unlawfully and maliciously wounded Marline Romero. The court heard that the victim Romero is a Venezuelan national and is the girlfriend of Benjamin’s child father and on the day in question, the man went to visit his child who lives with mother in Kuru-Kuru.
Romero went along with him, however there was an argument between Benjamin and her, whereby the accused armed herself with an object and injured Romero to her left hand.
Police Prosecutor, Simone Payne made no objection Benjamin being granted her pretrial liberty. She was released on $50,000 bail and the matter was transferred to the Providence Magistrate’s Court for October 19.
