Three teens robbed at gunpoint in Mon Repos

Three teenagers were on Wednesday robbed by armed men under the disguise of customers at a popular grocery shop in Mon Repos, East Coast Demerara (ECD).

Lakeram Prashad, 18 – years old, his 19 – year old wife, Susan along with their 18 – year old colleague, Ravi David were robbed around 22:00hrs whilst standing outside of the shop which is owned by the young couple.

According to information reaching the News Room, the two bandits approached the trio inquiring whether the shop sold cigarettes. Upon being told ‘no’, the men walked a short distance away but then turned back and began to demand cash from the teenagers.

The perpetrators reportedly braced the three persons against the wall of the shop, closed the doors and relieved them of a number of valuables worth thousands of dollars.

Prashad and his wife were robbed of a gold band valuing $40,000, a Samsung S6 cellphone valued $110,000 and $28,000 in cash. David was robbed of $10,000 in cash and a cellphone worth $5,000.

After committing the crime, the suspects calmly walked away. News Room understands that CCTV footage was viewed but the images were not clear; it was taken to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Headquarters for enhancement. No one has been arrested.
