The Guyana Defence Force (GDF) has since launched OPERATION HAWK EYE, a search and rescue mission, to assist the Guyana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) in locating an Air Services Limited CESSNA 206 aircraft.

The aircraft, piloted by ASL’s Captain Imran Khan, was en route from Chi Chi to Mahdia where it was expected to arrive at 08:47hrs.

Troops from the GDF 31 Special Forces Squadron are involved in the operation.
