    A biker identified as Arnold Tinnis, called Neville, was killed this afternoon after his bike crashed into a motor lorry at Airy Hall, Mahaicony, East Coast Demerara.

    According to a police statement, 48-year-old Tinnis, a Mechanic of West Ruimveldt Georgetown was proceeding west along the southern driveway of the road, on motor cycle CJ 2623in a group of seven other bikers at a fast rate. It is alleged that whilst negotiating a turn, Tinnis ended up in the path of motor lorry, GMM 5689 which was proceeding in the opposite direction and collided. Thereafter, the lorry collided with Powley, also a Mechanic, of John Street Campbellville.

    Tinnis along with another biker, identified as Eze Powley, was rushed to the Mahaicony Hospital where Tinnis was pronounced dead on arrival.

    Friends of the bikers say they were both on their way back from an annual ride to Suriname.

    The driver of the lorry who resides at De Hoop, Mahaica, East Coast Demerara is presently in custody assisting with the investigation.
