A former Guyana Defence Force (GDF) soldier has been committed to face a judge and jury in the High Court for the murder of 8 month old Romain Seth, who was burnt to death after an arsonist torched his 4th Field, Kanveille East Bank Demerara home in January.

Nigel Dodson, 21, also of Kaneville, was indicted for the capital offence at the end of the Preliminary Inquiry (PI), which was held before Magistrate Judy Latchman at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court. Magistrate Latchman ruled that there is enough evidence for Dodson to face trial in the High Court.

    Dead: Romain Seth

The toddler was burnt to death on January 23, 2017 after his Kaneville home was set on fire reportedly by the next door neighbour.  According in reports, on the day in question, the blaze started around 02:30 hrs after the neighbour and his friends threw “fire balls” into the house in which the infant and his family were sleeping.

According to information, the neighbour reportedly accused the toddler’s grandmother of ‘snitching’ on him and his gang to the cops, which resulted in lawmen raiding the neighbourhood frequently for guns and drugs.
