Man shot after asking suspect to stop smoking ‘weed’

A 24-year-old was on Friday afternoon shot to the left elbow by a man after he (the victim) asked him to desist from smoking cannabis next to where he was standing.

At about 17:30 hours on Friday, the police said the suspect, who was smoking the cannabis, allegedly drew a handgun and discharged three rounds in the victim’s direction before escaping in a motor car.

The incident occurred at Friendship South, East Coast Demerara.

The victim was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital and treated and sent away while the suspect is being sought.
