Police Constable charged with drunk driving

The Police Constable who was found intoxicated following an accident on the Stewartville Public Road, West Coast Demerara on September 01, was today charged with driving under the influence of alcohol.

A police report noted that Satrohan Gowkarran, appeared before Magistrate Roshell Liverpool at the Leonora Magistrate’s Court and pleaded guilty to the offence. He was fined $7,500 and his driver’s licence was endorsed.

Police noted that the investigation into the accident is still incomplete. The victim who was transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital is said to be in a stable condition.
