The Guyana Telephone Telegraph (GTT) said it has maintained international connectivity despite the disruption in the Eastern Caribbean Fibre system which was caused by super-storm Hurricane Irma.

GTT uses the Eastern Caribbean Fibre system to transport service to the United States.

The segment of the circuit between St Martin and Tortola, British Virgin Islands was on Wednesday disrupted at 08:35 hrs and restored at 14:05 hrs but GTT said its customers did not experience any outage due to the redundant undersea capacity.

GTT said it will continue to monitor the situation and will keep the public informed about further disruptions.
