Gunmen rob cement factory in Eccles

Three gunmen, during the wee hours of Sunday morning, robbed the Ready Mix Concrete Limited located at Eccles Industrial Site, East Bank Demerara (EBD).

According to the police, the perpetrators escaped with an undisclosed amount of cash following an exchange of gunfire with private security guards.

Police said investigations revealed that the suspects pounced upon the two watchmen, both in their late seventies, after which they proceeded to a section of the building and removed the cash from a safe.

The men used a cutting torch to gain access, police said.

Armed personnel from a contracted security service responded to an alarm from the building and confronted the suspects during which there was an exchange of gunfire but the gunmen managed to flee the scene.
