1 dead, another critical after street racing in GT

A 23 – year old man is now dead and another in a critical condition after they were street racing on Monday afternoon on the Aubrey Barker Road, South Ruimveldt in Georgetown.

The dead man has been identified as Sunil Samaroo of Kaneville, Grove on the East Bank Demerara (EBD). The hospitalised person is 24 – year old Keitze Bazilo of 33 Howes Street, Charlestown; he was the pillion rider.

Police said investigations revealed that Samaroo was riding an unregistered motorcycle during the alleged race with two other motorcycles.

They were heading east along the road when in the vicinity of the Tucville Bridge, Samaroo lost control of the bike, causing him and the pillion rider to fall off the motorcycle.

They both sustained severe injuries and were taken to the Woodlands Hospital in an unconscious state. The rider was pronounced dead on arrival while the pillion rider was admitted in the ICU in a critical state.

Police said investigations are in progress.
