It was total destruction Monday night as Harold Adams scored a record basketball score, at least locally, when he poured in an amazing 111 points, playing for Victory Valley Royals, who steamrolled Bankers Trust Falcons 206-46 in second round action in the Linden Amateur Basketball Association’s (LABA) Open League at the Mackenzie Sports Club hard court.

The Royals trio- Adams, Chris Williams and Orlando Glasgow- was again in harness as they marched to their seventh straight win to start their second round campaign.

In the process Royals have maintained their grip on the Open League as the Adams bettered his previous best of 46 scored earlier in this tournament, and then proceed to blot out the 76 points scored by his teammate Chris Williams a few years ago.

The stage was set from the opening whistle as the Royals were ahead when the first quarter was finished, leading 40-13 and they bettered that opening burst to runaway 83-19 by the half.

They tightened their grip, scoring 66 points in the third stanza and allowing just eight points to be ahead 149-27. They then cut loose in the final segment to complete the demolition job 206-46.

In the obliteration of the Falcons, the triangular offensive forces of the Royals were on display as Adams’ teammates Orlando Glasgow cashed in with 31 points, Chris Williams 22 and past junior national Marlon Pollydore 16. Lawrence Simon and Stephan Duncan each had 13 points for the Falcons.

Also on the night, Retrieve Raiders, the Linden senior basketball champions, scored a close 57-55 win over Amelia’s Ward Jets. Neil Marks led the way with 16 points and Duel Montrose had 10. Parrish Cadogan was the leading player for the Jets with 20 points, while A. Williams had 16.
