‘Tear Drop’ charged with $1.1M robbery

Twenty – three-year-old Leon Clarke, popularly known as ‘Tear Drop’ was on Wednesday charged with robbery.

He appeared before Magistrate Fabayo Azore at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court and pleaded not guilty to the charge.

It is alleged that on September 8, 2017, he robbed Vincent Howard of $980,000 in cash, $175,000 worth of GTT phone cards, $50,000 worth of Digicel phone cards, and $80,000 worth of scratch tickets.

The court heard that Clarke broke into Howard’s East La Penitence Boulevard, Georgetown home and the man’s daughter recognised the onetime – hit – wonder, who had risen to fame after a few of his musical videos went viral on Facebook.

 

Clarke, who works as an attendant at the Georgetown Public Hospital was placed on $75,000 bail and is expected to return on October 4, 2017.
