A woman is now dead and a Police Lance Corporal has been detained, following an accident along the Ogle Public Road, East Coast Demerara on Sunday evening.
The dead woman is so far unidentified. According to reports, at approximately 19:50hrs, the police rank, Leon Williams who is attached to the Tactical Service Unit (TSU), was driving motorcar PSS 3984, when the woman ran from one side of the road to the other and collided with the left side of the car.
She was picked up and rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital by the rank and died while receiving medical attention. News Room understands that the woman suffered serious head injuries.
A breathalyzer test was done on the police man and it was found that his alcohol level was above the legal limit. Investigations into the accident are ongoing.
