3 years jail for South Ruimveldt man caught with cannabis

A resident of South Ruimveldt, Georgetown was sentenced to three years jail on Tuesday by Magistrate Judy Latchman for the possession of 10 grams of cannabis.

Oliver Bazilio, 32, was also fined $30,000 after he was found guilty of having the illegal substance in his possession on March 6, 2017 at 261 Blue Sackie Drive, South Ruimveldt.

The matter was prosecuted by Custom Anti-Narcotics Unit (CANU) Prosecutor, Konyo Sandiford. Bazilio, along with his father, boxing promoter, Keith Bazilio, known as ‘Buckiloo’; Shemroy Robertson, 32 and Clinton Chase, 66 had a joint drug trafficking charge dismissed against them recently.

The charge read that March 6, they were in possession of 4.734 kilograms (equivalent to 10.4 pounds) of cannabis for trafficking, at 261 Blue Sackie Drive, South Ruimveldt.

During the search of the home, different batches of narcotics were retrieved from a wardrobe in the bedroom, in a stove in the kitchen and on the person of Robertson and Oliver Bazilio.

Oliver Bazilio was found with 10 grams of cannabis in his pants pocket.
