Supervisor, Cashier shot, robbed by bicycle bandit

A supervisor attached to an entertainment Bar and Grill is now hospitalised after he was shot at Plantation Providence on the East Bank of Demerara.

According to a police report, at about 02:30hrs on Tuesday, the 52-year-old Supervisor of Eccles New Housing Scheme was seated in his vehicle awaiting a female co-worker to safely enter her yard, when the incident occurred.

The police said a male suspect on a bicycle, armed with a handgun, rode up to vehicle and shot the driver before following the co-worker, a 34-year old Cashier, and relieving her of a bag containing valuables. He also fired a shot at her which struck her on the left hand.

The bag was subsequently recovered in close proximity to the scene, while the victims were rushed to the hospital.

The woman was sent away while the man was transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital. Investigators are making stringent efforts to apprehend the suspect.
