Six robbed in Mocha, suspect arrested

A 27-year-old man has been arrested for an armed street robbery committed on six persons on Tuesday, at Second Bridge, Mocha, East Bank Demerara (E.B.D.)

According to the Guyana Police Force, the unemployed man, Dillion Joel Dublinof 96 Nelson Street, Mocha, E.B.D. was positively identified by the victims who were robbed at about 11:00hrs yesterday.

He has been charged with six counts of robbery under arms and will be arraigned before a Magistrate soon.

Dublin is also being questioned in relation to an attempted robbery and shooting of a Cashier and Supervisor which occurred at Plantation Providence also at about 02:00 hrs yesterday.

The 52-year-old Supervisor of Eccles New Housing Scheme was seated in his vehicle awaiting a female co-worker to safely enter her yard, when the incident occurred.The police had said a male suspect on a bicycle, armed with a handgun, rode up to vehicle and shot the driver before following the 34-year old Cashier, and relieving her of a bag containing valuables. He also fired a shot at her which struck her on the left hand.

The bag was subsequently recovered in close proximity to the scene, while the victims were rushed to the hospital.
