A 58-year-old man of Smithfield, New Amsterdam appeared before Magistrate Alex Moore at the New Amsterdam Magistrate’s Court, charged with the murder of his 56-year-old wife, Janet Tahal.

Randolph Tahal was not required to plead to the charge, which alleged that between September 17 and 19, 2017 he murdered the woman with a piece of wood. The court heard that the accused and his wife had a heated argument when he armed himself with a piece of wood and dealt the woman several lashes to the head.
