The police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the discovery of a partly decomposed body of a female and it is suspected that she was raped.

The body was discovered by a man who was heading to the seashore at Foulis, East Coast Demerara Tuesday night. The man was about to dump garbage in the area when he saw the woman’s body in the bushes.

The police discovered a hammock close to the remains as well as multi-coloured slippers.  It is unclear if the woman was raped and then dumped there or whether she was raped at the spot.

According to information reaching the News Room, the woman’s pants and underwear were pulled down almost below her knees and her top pulled up above her breast. She was found lying face up and the skin from her arms was torn off.

The police suspect the remains might represent a female in her late 30s or early 40s. It is unclear if there were any missing reports filed for anyone around that age group within the Police ‘C’ Division recently.

News Room understands that although the remains are partly decomposed, it is still identifiable. There are also reports that a “yellow metal chain” was found wrapped around the neck of the deceased.
