Father: Peter Christopher
The father of Nicholas Christopher, one of the men accused of murdering 12-year-old Leonard Archibald, and dumping his body in the Berbice River, today passionately denied his son’s involvement in the crime.
The man, Peter Christopher claimed that there are several persons who can vouch for his son’s whereabouts when the murder took place.
“The night when this thing occur, there are numerous witnesses that this boy [his son] was with them all the time, you understand, and they are prepared to stage a protest. These individuals are praying God let the authorities come and ask for witnesses that he was with them all night and we prepared to have those witnesses give evidence supporting his innocence,” the man stated.
Christopher was represented by Attorney Gossai while Edwards did not have legal representation. They were both remanded to prison until December 8th, 2017.
Christopher’s father is of the view that the investigation was not conducted in a fair manner.
“As far as we is concerned, the law is not being fair where this investigation is concerned, but there is a God, if my child is innocent, my God will intervene on behalf of my young son,” the man said. He went on to add, “I didn’t grow my child suh and will be very much disappointed.”
According to the man, it was only recently that his son rescued Edwards after his family put him out of their home. He also claimed that Nicholas was unaware that Edwards is a known child molester.
Archibald was murdered between September 17 and September 23, 2017. According to reports, the child was riding his bicycle along the Sisters Public Road at about 17:30 hrs when he was approached by Edwards who took him into the home and raped him.
News Room was told that after the child became unresponsive, Edwards dumped his body in the Berbice River which is located several feet behind the home where the rape took place.
However, the News Room was told that Christopher was underneath the house when he heard screams in the upper flat; however he left. Archibald’s badly decomposed body was found on Sunday, September 23 at Korthberaadt River which is located about three miles from Brothers Village, East Bank Berbice.
Young Archibald was laid to rest on Tuesday and leaves to mourn his parents and siblings.
