Detectives have arrested an East Bank Berbice (EBB) farmer in connection with a failed execution attempt against another farmer of Islington Village, New Amsterdam Berbice on September 26.

The injured cattle farmer, who has been identified as 45-year-old Fenton Belle, was grazed by a bullet to the neck and his home was also riddled with gunshots.

Acting Commander of ‘B’ Division, Lyndon Alves disclosed that earlier in the week, Belle and the other farmer had an altercation. The Commander declined to comment on the nature of the argument but said it had enough grounds for the man to be arrested.

He added that crime scene investigators have since revisited the scene to comb the area for spent shells. According to Alves, investigations are currently ongoing in an effort to ensure someone is brought before the court for the crime.

On the day in question, Belle was standing in his yard at about 19:35hrs when a hail of gunshots rang out. In addition to sustaining injuries, an eastern glass window was shattered and four indentations of suspected gunshots were seen on the concrete wall of his house.
